Getting my hands dirty

I had offered to help out, but I'm very rarely at home when Margaret and Forrest are here. However, on Martin Luther King Day, I had the day off so they asked me if I wanted to help and I was eager to do so! They were working in the back yard on the fence, which entails putting four screws in per board (it is a lot easier to replace boards that are screwed in than those that are nailed in.) They were very patient with me, as they had to each me absolutely everything (how to replace the drill bit, reload the nail gun, etc.). I was only scolded once by Forrest for crooked screws and the scratches all over my arm from working behind the hibiscus are nearly gone.

The "before" shot - what it looked like in the morning before we started:
The "after" shot - not too crooked!

Fortunately, we were able to push the fence back closer to the property line (about 8 inches from where it had been before), which helps, since the deck juts out further into the yard than previously.

I guess one of these days I'll have to figure out the landscaping part, too.
